Bob Norman’s Riverbend Adventures Guide Service
Northern California Fly Fishing
Bob has been a licensed professional fly fishing guide and instructor for the past 28 years. During that time he has acquired extensive firsthand knowledge of Northern California’s finest “wild” trout fisheries. The primary waters we guide for trout include the Fall River (one of the finest spring creek fisheries in the western USA), Hat Creek (“wild” trout section), Pit River (below Lake Britton), McCloud River (below the dam), Upper and Lower Sacramento River, plus several lakes and reservoirs in the north state.
Having fished the Fall River and Hat Creek since the mid 70’s Bob considers these waters his backyard! Being an avid fly tier over the years he has developed several very effective Stillwater and spring creek fly patterns…to fool these backyard intruders! Many of his fly patterns are sold commercially in fly shops all over the country.
The Riverbend Adventures Guide Team are hard working independent professional guides and instructors with an accumulation of over “100 years” experience as licensed fly fishing guides through-out Northern California waters, fishing for trout, steelhead and salmon!!
Riverbend Adventures is not a one dimensional guide service, we fish a variety of waters from Stillwater and Spring Creeks to Freestone Rivers using many different techniques to catch fish and improve your angling skills. A day on the water with anyone of our team will be a learning, memorable and fun day on the water.
The Trinity River is one of the most scenic and wild steelhead rivers in the lower 48 states. Fishermen came from all corners of the world to try and catch the prized and elusive steelhead!!
We wade fish primarily and swing traditional steelhead “wet flies” or skate ”dry flies” on the surface for that “breath stopping grab” steelies do so well! We also dead drift nymphs on floating lines…and this method can be deadly at times.
Over the past few years there has been a tremendous interest in Spey and Switch rod fishing for steelhead. Spey fishermen do not hesitate to bring your switch or spey rods, the Trinity has many good run throughout the entire river. If you are interest in learning a fun new way to steelhead fish, we can teach you a couple basic spey casts to get you started… and we’ll even supply the rods!!
We look forward to spending time on the water with you and friends.
