Bob Norman’s “Riverbend Adventures” Guide Service

Bob has been a licensed professional, full-time fly fishing guide for the past 28 years.  During that time he has acquired extensive first hand knowledge of Northern California finest “ wild trout” fisheries.  The primary waters that he guides for trophy “wild trout” include Fall River (the finest spring creek fishery in the western USA) Hat Creek, the Pit, McCloud and Upper & Lower Sacramento Rivers, plus several lakes and private waters.

Having fished the Fall River and Hat Creek since the early 70s, Bob considers these waters his backyard!  Being an avid fly tier, over the years he has developed several very effective stillwater and spring creek fly patterns…. to fool those backyard intruders!  Many of his fly patterns are sold commercially in fly shops all over the country. 

The Trinity River is on of the most productive steelhead fisheries in the lower 48 states!  This past season we experienced record setting runs of “steelies” from August all the way through mid March.  The upper river is small water compared to most other good steelhead rivers.  We wade fish primarily and swing traditional wet flies or skate dry flies on the surface for that “breath stopping grab” steelies are famous for!  Another technique we use is dead drifting nymphs on a floating line… can be deadly at times!

Spey rod fisherman do not hesitate to bring your spey or switch rod, the Trinity offers good spey fishing runs in the middle and lower stretches of the river and Riverbend Adventure have the guides that understand and can teach spey rod casting and fishing.

Having worked with Mel Kreiger as a fly casting instructor for his casting and fishing schools for many years.  Bob is a certified FFF casting instructor (In fact Bob was one of the first certified casting instructor to complete the FFF casting certification program).

As a guide, his goal is to instruct you in all aspects of fly fishing; from the casting to fly presentation the hook-up and fighting the fish.  Riverbend Adventures is a full time guide service and we take fly fishing seriously, … when you fish with us expect a full day on the water!
