The classic freestone rivers. Primarily fishing with nymphs and streamers in pocket water, riffles, deep runs and pools. Dry fly is best early and late season and can be excellent. These two rivers are very similar in character and aquatic bug life. Good hatches of stone flies, mayflies and caddis, during the warmer months of summer terrestrial fishing can be good.
The McLoud and upper SAC are tributaries to Lake Shasta and in the fall have good migrations of trophy size “wild” browns and rainbow trout.
The fishing and the fall colors make these rivers a “magical “ place to spend time on the water.
All fishing on these rivers is walk-in & wade fishing only.
